Aurora Algorithm Inc. ("we", "us", or "our") operates the Text Clarifier website and browser extension (the "Service"). This Privacy Policy informs you of our policies regarding the collection, use, and disclosure of personal data when you use our Service and the choices you have associated with that data.
1. Information We Collect
Personal Data
While using our Service, we may ask you to provide us with certain personally identifiable information that can be used to contact or identify you ("Personal Data"). specifically, we store:
- Account Details: Email address, Billing Email (if different), User ID (UUID), Credit Balance.
- Preferences: Your configured Timezone (e.g., UTC).
- Security Data: Hashed Extension API keys, Hashed IP Address (for welcome bonus abuse prevention), OTP codes.
- Usage Data: Daily usage counts (requests per day) to track quota limits.
- Bookmarks: Terms, explanations, and the specific Source URL of the page where you created the bookmark (for context).
- Referral Data: Records of who referred you or whom you referred.
Categories of Personal Information Collected (CCPA)
In the preceding 12 months, we have collected the following categories of personal information:
- Identifiers: Email address, User ID, IP address.
- Internet Activity: Browsing history within our Service, interaction with our extension.
- Commercial Information: Records of credits purchased (processed via Stripe).

Marketing Communications: We may use your Personal Data to contact you with newsletters, marketing or promotional materials, and other information that may be of interest to you. You may opt out of receiving any, or all, of these communications from us by following the unsubscribe link or instructions provided in any email we send or by contacting us.
3. Data Sharing & Third-Party Processors
We do not sell your Personal Data. We share data only with the following trusted third-party service providers necessary to operate the Service. Specifically regarding Bookmarks: Your bookmarked terms and explanations are stored solely for your personal use and reference; they are never shared with third parties for marketing purposes, nor are they ever sold.

Authentication & Database hosting.
Stripe
Payment processing. We do not store financial details.
AI Model Providers & Gateway
We utilize the Vercel AI Gateway to route requests to various third-party AI model providers (including Google, OpenAI, DeepSeek, xAI, and various others supported by Vercel) to process text and generate explanations.
- No Training: We do not use your text submissions or generated explanations to train our own AI models. We are not responsible for the data usage policies of third-party AI model providers.
- Data Usage: Text is sent to providers solely for generating the response and is not used by them for model training (Enterprise/API data standard).
Vercel Analytics
Anonymous performance and usage analytics to improve product experience.
Resend
Transactional email delivery (e.g., login codes, welcome emails).
4. Browser Extension Permissions & Data Usage
Our browser extension requires specific permissions to function. We are committed to minimizing data access:
- ActiveTab: We only access the content of your current active tab when you explicitly trigger the extension (e.g., by clicking "Clarify"). We do not passively monitor your browsing history on other tabs or when the extension is not in use.
- Storage: Used to save your user settings (e.g., language preferences) locally on your device.
- ContextMenus: Adds the "Clarify this text" option to your right-click menu.
International Data Transfers
Your information, including Personal Data, may be transferred to — and maintained on — computers located outside of your state, province, country, or other governmental jurisdiction where the data protection laws may differ than those from your jurisdiction.
If you are located outside United States and choose to provide information to us, please note that we transfer the data, including Personal Data, to the United States and process it there. We utilize service providers (Stripe, Supabase, Google, OpenAI, DeepSeek, xAI, Vercel) that rely on appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) or the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework to ensure your data is protected.
4. Data Retention
We will retain your Personal Data only for as long as is necessary for the purposes set out in this Privacy Policy. We will retain and use your Personal Data to the extent necessary to comply with our legal obligations (for example, if we are required to retain your data to comply with applicable laws), resolve disputes, and enforce our legal agreements and policies.
5. Security of Data
The security of your data is important to us, but remember that no method of transmission over the Internet, or method of electronic storage is 100% secure. While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your Personal Data, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.

7. Children's Privacy
Our Service is not intended for anyone under the age of 18 ("Minors"). We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from anyone under the age of 18. If you are a parent or guardian and you are aware that your child has provided us with Personal Data, please contact us.
🔒 COPPA Compliance (Children Under 13):
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 years of age. The Service is not directed to children under 13. If we become aware that we have inadvertently collected personal information from a child under 13, we will take immediate steps to delete such information from our servers. Where the age of majority in your jurisdiction is higher than 18, you must be at least the age of majority to use the Service. By using the Service, you represent that you meet these age requirements and have the legal capacity to enter into a binding agreement.
